Straw's Cynicism

With regard to the announcement that the minutes of Cabinet discussions that brought this country to war will not, after all, be made public the nation is again treated to the cynicism of the Labour Party. Never mind that all the 'reasons' for going to war were subsequently found to be groundless; never mind that the majority of the public opposed the war 'from the off'; never mind the casualties that were incurred - both military and civilian; never mind the jaw-dropping cost in terms of money that could have been left in the pockets of British tax-victims, Jack Straw and his co-conspirators have decided that those us who paid for it all - either financially or in the death/ injury of loved ones - may not be made acquainted with the discussions of our 'betters'. This is the party that introduced the Freedom of Information Act - so long as it is applied when it suits them...

On the one hand we are told that such a disclosure would bring cabinet discussion to an end and the immanence of Armageddon and on the other that, as statist Peter Hain said on 'Question Time' last night, they "would add nothing to the sum of human knowledge"!

We look with longing for an end to the Welfare/Warfare State and it's replacement by a natural order where the likes of Straw and his kind would have to make their way in the world - in a manner that doesn't involve sponging off the income of others whom they deceive for their own despicable ends...
